Fall Camp Countdown: Most Valuable Players For 2016 - #13 Baker Pritchard

The #13 spot on our "Fall Camp Countdown" list goes to #95, junior defensive end Baker Pritchard.

With only 13 days left until Oregon State starts fall camp, we continue our countdown of the 25 most valuable football players. To follow-up from yesterday's selection of Bright Ugwoebu, today's pick goes to defensive end Baker Pritchard.

#13 Baker Pritchard - Defensive End

Baker Pritchard is a 6-foot-3, 270-pound defensive end. The former three-star recruit originally committed to BYU and redshirted his only season with the Cougars back in 2011. Pritchard then spent the next two years serving a church mission and afterwards decided to transfer to Oregon State because the Beavers defensive schemes highlighted his skills more fully.

Pritchard plays an aggressive style and loves to break into opposing backfields. Although he is considered an undersized defensive lineman in Oregon State's 3-4 defensive scheme, the former high school powerlifting champion is said to have deceptive strength according to his coaches and teammates.

As a sophomore Baker Pritchard accumulated 30 tackles (10 for loss) and 1.5 sacks. Which included a career-high 9 tackles versus Utah. Pritchard returns for his junior year as arguably the most skilled and experienced defensive lineman currently on Oregon State's roster. He will be tasked with pressuring opposing QB's, while also shoring up a run-defense that was one of the worst in the nation last year.

Pritchard brings invaluable experience to the Beavers defensive line. A group that is probably the biggest question mark headed into the 2016 season. As one of the oldest and most experienced defensive lineman Pritchard will also need to take on a newfound leadership role. If Pritchard can help improve a defense that allowed 37 points per-game last year, it will go a long way in helping Oregon State exceed expectations for the upcoming season.
