Every year Capital One gives out the Capital One Cup to the school with the most athletic success across all sports. Schools are ranked to see how they stacked up against each other and Oregon State was among the top 25 on that list this year, tying with Notre Dame at #24 taking home 36 points. The beavers were on of 7 teams from the PAC-12 in the top 25. They were lead by the Lady Beaver basketball team who had a record setting season finishing with a 32-5 record. The team consisted of PAC-12 Player of the Year Jamie Weisner and PAC-12 Defensive Player of the Year Ruth Hamblin. The Lady Beavs made a final four run before losing to the eventual champion the UCONN Huskies 80-55. They ranked 2nd to UCONN in the final Capital One Cup standings for Women's Basketball, and were the only team from Oregon State to rank in the top 10 in their respective sport.
Though basketball was the most dominant team for the women's sports in Corvallis, OSU was also very successful in softball this year as well, finishing with a 30-20-1 record. They reached the regional round and came up just short to Jacksonville State 5-4 in 14 innings which brought their season to a heartbreaking end. Pitcher Beverly Miller was also nominated for NCAA Woman Of the Year.
