The #20 spot on our "Fall Camp Countdown" goes to sophomore cornerback Dwayne Williams.

With only 20 days left until Oregon State starts fall camp, we are counting down by previewing the 25 most valuable football players that will help lead the Beavers to a successful 2016 season. We'll countdown by highlighting a new player each day until fall camp starts. Today's spot goes to talented corner Dwayne Williams.

#20: Dwayne Williams - Cornerback

Dwayne Williams, the redshirt sophomore cornerback, sits atop the right corner spot on the Beavers young defense. Holding down the right side of the secondary, he'll look to solidify a defensive backfield that was plagued by inconsistency and injuries last year.

At 5'9" and just shy of 180 lbs, Williams uses his speed and athleticism to make up for his lack of size, and with a recorded 40 yard dash of 4.40 seconds and a 35.4 inch vertical, he is not lacking in athleticism. A native of Killeen, TX and a graduate of Shoemaker HS, he was labeled a 3-star recruit by ESPN before signing with OSU. After redshirting his first year in Corvallis, he received immediate playing time as a redshirt freshman. In the midst of a break out year and looking like a bright spot for the young defense; he suffered a season ending concussion injury, which never allowed the young budding CB to show his full potential.

Williams started in the spring game this year and looked impressive. Most notably recording a pick 6, when he took advantage of an ill-advised throw by freshman Mason Moran. From there, the athleticism came in to play and he made an impressive 55 yard return for a TD.

Although the number one option was typically on the left side of the field for OSU during the spring game, when they did throw to Williams side, he performed well. Look for Williams to make more big plays like his pick 6 in the spring game against other Pac-12 QB's. Dwayne Williams will hopefully improve on his freshman season and become a staple for the Beavers secondary for years to come.

Our "Fall Camp Countdown" continues tomorrow with the #19 Most Valuable Player for the Beavers in 2016.
