Only 21 days left until Oregon State starts fall camp and we are continuing the countdown of the 25 most valuable football players for the 2016 season. Today's spot goes to Yanni Demogerontas who is tasked with replacing two-year starter Josh Mitchell at the center position.

#21: Yanni Demogerontas - Center

Yanni Demogerontas, the sophomore center, currently leads the race to become the new starting center, according to Oregon State's most recent depth chart. He finds himself ahead of former 4-star recruit and BYU transfer, Brayden Kearsley which is a mild surprise and is a position battle Beaver fans should keep an eye on.

Yanni Demogerontas is a 6-foot-3, 300-pound offensive lineman from Orland Park, Illinois. Yanni was lightly recruited despite being ranked a three-star recruit by ESPN. His light recruitment was partially contributed to a broken ankle he suffered at the beginning of his senior season of high school. Oregon State still offered him a scholarship while he was on an official visit to Corvallis and he accepted.

Yanni played left tackle for his high school team and was expected to be a guard at the next level because of his athleticism and mobility. But, with Oregon State's pressing need at center Yanni Demogerontas has stepped up to the challenge and filled the gap in the middle of the offensive line.

Demogerontas started the spring game this year for The Beavers and looked good. He had a nice connection with quarter back Darell Garretson and provided him with ample protection from defensive pressure. If Yanni Demogerontas continues to improve and impress the coaching staff through fall camp; Oregon State may have just found a multi-year starter who can anchor the offensive line for years to come.

Our "Fall Camp Countdown" continues tomorrow with the #20 Most Valuable Player for the Beavers in 2016.
