Oregon State had no answer for the USC Trojans Saturday afternoon. The Trojans' Brandon Perez led the team with 3 rbi's in a 10-1 win, in which the Beavers were dominated. The loss dropped the struggling Beavers to 12-14 in Pac-12 play.
USC jumped out to a quick early lead thanks to a Timmy Robinson triple that scored two in a three run inning in the first. The Trojans added five runs over the next two innings to take a commanding 8-0 lead after the third inning. Luke Heimlich was a victim of USC's batters as he gave up six hits and sevens runs, and was taken out in the third.
Scotland Church pitched five strong innings for the Beavers, but couldn't do much to slow down the Trojans at the plate as he gave up three hits and two runs. USC's starting pitcher Kyle Davis held Oregon State in check the first five innings giving up only three hits and zero runs. A Cadyn Grenier single to left field helped the Beavers avoid the shutout. By that time the Trojans were just clearing out their bullpen.
The Trojans added runs in the seventh and eighth innings, including a home run from David Oppenheim. The series concludes Sunday at 12pm, with both teams with one win a piece. Oregon State then heads back home for the final series of the season against UCLA.
