How are these 3 Beavers doing in the NFL right now ?
Terron Ward: who was just signed from the Atlanta Falcons practice squad, accounted for 57 total yards in helping Atlanta to a win over Green Bay. Green Bay coming into this last Sunday had the #1 running defense in the NFL. Ward’s 46 yards rushing was a large part of the 90 total yards the Falcons had against the Packers. The 90 yards surrendered by the Packers was the 2nd most allowed by them all season.
Coach Dan Quinn talked about Ward’s impressive game saying “We are proud of Terron, we knew he would step through. We knew if his number was called that he would be ready. We have a lot of faith in him. He’s short, but he is not small. He knows how to lower his shoulder when the appropriate time comes. He’s a great competitor and he came through exactly how we thought.”
Ward credited offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan for his play calling and said it was a quality mix of run and pass.
Terron Ward talked about his mindset headed into the game saying, “We take every team on, every challenge head on. We know they had a good rushing defense, but we knew we wanted to come out and establish ourselves. This is the NFL, everybody’s good, so we had to come out and prove it.”
Jacquizz Rodgers: In the loss at Raymond James Stadium to the Oakland Raiders, Buccaneers starting RB and Beaver great, Jacquizz Rodgers hurt his foot late in regulation and was unable to return. After back to back games at Carolina and San Francisco, where Quizz ran like a mad man, his injury comes as yet another blow to the Bucs. This is the 3rd starting running back to go down this season to a significant injury. Rodgers underwent an MRI, which revealed no fractures, the source said. He was wearing a walking boot on his left foot Monday.
Jameis Winston on the injury to Quizz, "We missed Quizz," quarterback Jameis Winston said after the game. "I didn't even know he was injured until about the third series and I said, 'Where's Quizz?' But man, that's a tough one. We've got to bounce back."
It will be sad to not see Ward and Quizz in the same game on primetime. The Bucs have a short turnaround this week, with the NFC South-leading Atlanta Falcons coming to town Thursday night. The Bucs defeated the Falcons 31-24 in Week 1.
In three starts this season, Rodgers has rushed for 393 yards on 88 carries, averaging 4.5 yards per carry. His 223 rushing yards the past two weeks are third-most of any running back in the NFL. Rodgers rushed for 69 yards on 19 carries and scored a 1-yard touchdown to give the Buccaneers the lead with 3:53 remaining in the fourth quarter. His last carry was a 4-yard run up the middle with 1:38 remaining.
Brandin Cooks: First off, check out this interview Jim Rome did with Brandin Cooks on Halloween here. Cooks had 4 receptions and 44 yards receiving and one TD against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. He’s developed into Drew Brees favorite target and is the Saints biggest offensive threat, every game.
Cooks has developed a strong bond and friendship with Drew Brees. Recently, ESPN wrote about their bond on and off the field.
