19th ranked Oregon St. (34-14-1, 15-9-1) takes on Stanford (22-29, 7-18) tonight at 7 PM in the Saturday night middle game of their weekend Pac-12 series.
Last night Oregon St. prevailed 5-2 for their 9th win in a row over Stanford, in a brutal exercise in offensive inefficiency, where the teams combined to strand 26 (!) runners. The 13 runners left on by Oregon St. was a season worst for the Beavers.
Pitching wasn't the reason for all that; the 2 staffs combined to walk 16!
Hopefully, better baseball will break out tonight at Sunken Diamond.
The Beavers' Jeff Hendrix saw his 14 game hitting streak come to an end, but KJ Harrison did drive his 3rh home run in the last 2 games, though.
The Pac-12 Network will again have the tv coverage of the series.
Oregon St. will go with freshman RHP Drew Rasmussen (5-3, 2.70 ERA). Rasmussen worked an out into the 9th inning last Saturday, and got the win in the Beavers' 2-0 victory over Utah.
Stanford will counter with junior RHP Marc Brakeman (1-3, 3.35 ERA). Brakeman is on the comeback trail, after missing half the season with an arm injury.
