The Beavers three game series with Bruins ended today after a mix series for the Beavers which saw them take a hard fought 3-2 win and a 4-1 loss where they couldn't see to find any offense. Oregon State looked to finish the series strong against the highly ranked Bruins and win the series. A late run in the bottom of the eight inning saw the Bruins take the series win as they won 10-5.
Both team opened up the first two innings struggling to find any offense as the Bruins and the Beavers both used great pitching and fielding to go through the first two innings quick with no runs scored.
UCLA would be first to score in the bottom of the third off of a Trent Chatteron double down the right field line to score Christop Bano and a Kevin Kramer single to left field Chatterton would score as the Bruins went up by two early.
Oregon State would answer back in the top of the fourth inning with a run of their own. The Beavers Billy King opened up the run when he ground out to shortstop but Trever Morrison would score to bring the Beavers within one. Next Kyle Kobach would singled up the middle for a single that would see Beavers Gabe Clark and KJ Harrison score. Giving the Beavers their first lead of the game 3-2.
Kyle Nobach would advanced to second on a balk. Elliott Cary would be next up at bat he would homer scoring himself and Kyle Nobach to extend the Beavers 5-2. It would be his first homerun of his freshman career, man was he pumped. After their 5 inning run the Beavers would have trouble finding offense for the rest of the game as they would go scoreless for the rest of the game.
The next three innings the Bruins would use great pitching and score a run in each inning to slowly erase the Beavers lead tying it in the bottom of the sixth 5-5. In the Bottom of the eighth the Bruins would use a five inning run of their own to put the game out of the reach for the Beavers 10-5 for the win and the series win.
The Beavers dropped to 22-9, 5-4 in Pac-12 play, and fall to a losing record away 3-4. The Bruins improve to 23-6 and probally will remain at number 6 in the nation. UCLA finished with 10 runs, off of 14 hits. Oregon State finished with 5 runs off of 6 runs.
Oregon State plays rival Oregon the series friday April 10th at 7:30pm. UCLA plays cross town rival USC friday April 10th at 3:00pm.
