Oregon St. (12-3) will go in search of their second consecutive weekend sweep this afternoon when they take on Fresno St. (7-8) at 1:05 PM. After getting a 2-1 walkoff win on KJ Harrison's home run in the bottom of the 11th inning Friday night, the Beavers unlimbered their bats a bit in yesterday's first game, getting a 5-2 win, and then really uncorked their offense in rolling to a 12-2 win over the Bulldogs in the conclusion of the double header sweep.
Both Harrison and Gabe Clark homered in the course of the afternoon, and Jeff Hendrix had 5 hits, scored 3 runs, and drove in 4 runs in the 2 games.
There will be no tv this weekend, but streaming video (no replays) will be provided.
Even though its the 4th game of the series, the Bulldogs will send their normal Sunday starter, RHP Garrett Mundell (1-0, 3.31 ERA) out today. Mundell also appeared for an inning in Friday night's game.
The Beavers put off their decision on a starter until game day, but settled on sophomore RHP Jake Thompson (0-1, 10.50), who has been on a slow paced recovery from a broken ankle last fall, and one that hasn't gone as well as hoped. Today could be a key indicator going forward as to whether the form that was expected to make Thompson the team's second starter is coming back.
