Oregon St. opens their final series of the regular season, which is also their final home series, with a visit from #3 Arizona.
The 'Cats are fresh off claiming the Pac-12 regular season championship, and the top seed in next week's conference tournament in Las Vegas, with a 79-66 win over Stanford Sunday evening.
Aaron Gordon led a balanced Arizona attack, which had 5 players in double figures, with 19 points. Gordon is also the 'Cats' leading rebounder, and grabbed a game high 15 against the Cardinal.
The Beavers are now in 10th place in the Pac-12 and are coming off a disappointing, 74-69 loss at UCLA Sunday night, a game Oregon St. had 11 point leads in on 2 different occasions early in the second half.
Roberto Nelson, the Pac-12's leading scorer, had a game high 22 points, but Devon Collier was the only other Beaver to score in double digits, with 15 points. Oregon St. suffered 5 consecutive scoreless possessions down the stretch, and UCLA hit 11 of 12 free throws in a minute to stave off the Beavers, after the Bruins had successfully made their second half rally.
Arizona dominated Oregon St. in the teams' first meeting a month ago in Tucson, taking a 76-54 win that is the second worst loss the Beavers have suffered this year.
The 'Cats made a series of relatively small runs throughout the course of the game, and it added up to the going away win.
