Oregon St. wraps up their 10 game homestand that concludes their preparations for beginning Pac-12 play this weekend in Utah with a get-away game against Ohio St.

Note that the game is on 1190 AM in Portland, the usual football & mens basketball frequency, instead of the baseball usual 620 AM.

The Buckeyes (from The Ohio St. University) dropped 2 of 3 to 10th ranked Oregon last weekend at P.K. Park, including a 20-4 loss Sunday in their last outing.

The Beavers (from one of the other OSUs) have won 8 of the first 9 games in the homestand, and 6 in a row, including a sweep of Northern Illinois last weekend. Oregon St. shut out the Huskies in 3 of the 4 games, and won 2 by 10 run margins, including the only game NIU scored in.

Oregon St. shuffled its pitching staff, and ultimately its lineup, to work around an outbreak of the flu with their pitching staff, but head coach Pat Casey achieved a stated goal of keeping freshman Jake Thompson available for tonight.

Thompson (3-0, 1.42 ERA) has been consistent as Oregon St.'s weekday starter this season, and allowed only 1 hit and 2 walks while striking out 7 in 5 innings of last week's 5-0 shutout win over Portland.

Ohio St. will pick go with sophomore RHP Jake Post (2-0. 0.84 ERA). Post has made 3 starts in his 4 appearances this season, but has only worked 10 2/3 innings. Post has allowed 10 hits and 4 runs, though only 1 was earned, and struck out 11. His last outing was a win in relief, coming on in the 6th inning with 1 out, and the Buckeyes down 3-0 to Western Kentucky.

He gave up 1 more run, but worked through the 8th, and got the win when Ohio St. ralleyed for 4 runs in the 8th inning to pull out the 5-4 win.

The Buckeyes are one of the few teams younger than the Beavers, with only 3 seniors, and 15 freshmen.

The Oregon St. lineup is settling in; here's how head Coach Pat Casey will start things off today.
