Lets Play Two!

Dylan Davis snapped out of his recent slump with 2 hits and 4 RBIs to power Oregon St. past Wright St. If he can stay hot, it will help the Beavers a lot in today's double header against the Raiders.

Game Notes

Oregon St. plays their first double header of the season today, continuing their 4 game series against Wright St. First pitch of the first game is at 12:35, and the second game will start 30-45 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.

The Beavers clobbered the Raiders 7-0 last night in the series opener, as Kavin Keyes came up with a 3 hit night, and scored 3 times. Dylan Davis drove in 4 runs, and Michael Howard backed him up with 3 hits and 2 more RBIs.

The Beavers will send junior LHP Jace Fry (1-0, 3.86 ERA) out for the first game, with either senior RHP Scott Schultz (2-0, 1.69 ERA) or freshman RHP Jake Thompson (2-0, 0.66 ERA) for the second game. Both were nearly bullet-proof as the 3rd and 4th game starters the last 2 weekends.

Senior LHP Ben Wetzler will return from his eligibility flap issues tomorrow, and make his season debut, and so head Coach Pat Casey's decision on a starter will likely depend on both whether one of them is needed in the first game (especially Schultz), and what seems to make most sense considering next Tuesday's game against Portland.

The Raiders will counter with senior RHP Joey Hoelzel (1-1, 1.98 ERA) in the first game, and sophomore LHP Robby Sexton (0-2, 4.50 ERA) in the night cap. Hoelzel was the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week after opening weekend, when he worked 7 2/3 innings allowing only 4 hits and the 1 run in Wright St.'s 7-1 win over Michigan St., a team Beaver fans will recall beat Oregon St. 8-7 last Saturday.
