Sean Mannion to Start at Quarterback for Oregon State

Craig Mitchelldyer

Coach Mike Riley announced today after practice that junior Sean Mannion has won the ongoing quarterback battle between him and senior Cody Vaz. The competition that began in Spring practice is now complete, and it's nice to have a set QB as we go into full game prep mode beginning Tuesday.

"Sean's attributes are obviously his ability to get the ball just about wherever you want on the field," Riley said in announcing his decision. "Along with his knowledge about where we're going and what he should do with the ball."

Both quarterbacks will play against Eastern Washington, and likely Hawaii as well, but it is unknown if Vaz will see time with the one's during those games.

Building the Dam will be back with more reaction as the week continues, but for now, be happy. There is football this week, and we have a starting quarterback.
