#16 Oregon (23-8, 9-3) at #6 Oregon St. (25-5, 7-2) / 4:05 PM / Goss Stadium / Pac-12 Channel / KEJO 1240 AM & KPOJ 620 AM
Game Notes / Gametracker / No Live Stream
#6 Oregon St. hosts #16 Oregon in the first of two non-conference battles in this year's baseball Civil War series this afternoon. The Pac-12 Channel is carrying the game, so there's no live stream, and the game was moved from an evening start to an afternoon game for tv.
The Beavers hold a 14-7 advantage since the Ducks reinstated baseball, but the last 10 games have been evenly split. Oregon St. won 4 of 5 last year, but dropped 4 of 5 the year before, and both teams are 4-1 at home in the last 2 seasons in the Civil War.
Neither team announced a starter in advance of game day, but junior RHP Dan Child (3-1, 3.04 ERA) has made a half-dozen starts for Oregon St., and is also an option for a long appearance out of the Beaver bullpen.
Oregon used 9 pitchers, none of whom went more than 1 1/3 innings, in their last mid-week game against Portland last week. Junior RHP Jeff Gold (3-0, 1.52 ERA) is the only Duck with more than 1 start outside their "weekend trio", having made 3 starts in 8 appearances this year, and last worked against Arizona St. last Saturday, facing only 5 batters, giving up 2 hits, a run, and a walk.
With both teams looking for an opportunity to host not just an NCAA regional, but also a super regional, something not likely to be awarded to both schools in such close proximity, non-conference games, especially ones against each other, as ranked opponents, could become the deciding factor if little else winds up separating the two.
