Oregon St. Attempts To Bounce Back At San Diego

Beavers looking for a sharper effort against Toreros

#2 Oregon St. (21-3, 4-1) at San Diego (17-9, 4-2 in the West Coast Conference) / 6 PM PDT / Fowler Park / Pac-12 Channel / KEJO 1240 AM & KPOJ 620 AM

Game Notes / Gametracker / Live Stream

Oregon St. will attempt to bounce back from their worst performance of the season Thursday night in the second game of their 3 contest series at San Diego.

The Beavers committed 5 "official" errors and as many other "errors", and the Toreros capitalized on many of them for a 7-4 upset win over the second ranked team in the country.

Recalling last year, when San Diego demolished Oregon St. 13-2, there have to be some teams scrambling for some video of how the Toreros are taking the Beavers apart, seemingly with ease. (Clue 1: Have Oregon St. head coach Pat Casey start Dan Child; he's gotten obliterated both times.)

The Beavers will attempt to bounce back by sending senior LHP Matt Boyd (5-0, 1.26), their best pitcher, and their Friday night guy, out to start.

The Toreros will counter with junior RHP Dylan Covey (1-2, 3.81), their usual #2 starter (since its the second game of a major weekend series). Covey beat the Beavers in last year's game.

Casey has also decided to go right away with Jeff Hendrix, and will employ Jake Rodriguez in the infield tonight. Today's lineup:

Jeff Hendrix-CF

Ryan Barnes-DH

Michael Conforto-LF

Dylan Davis-RF

Danny Hayes-1B

Kavin Keyes-3B

Jake Rodriguez-2B

Nate Esposito-C

Andy Peterson-SS
