After knocking off then #19 UCLA 27-20 yesterday, their second win over a top 20 ranked team this season, Oregon St. has themselves moved into the top 20, checking into this week's AP poll at #18. The Beavers also broke into the Coaches' Sports Information Directors' poll, at #21.
The Beavers' win dropped the Bruins out of the poll, though they are still hovering only 2 spots out of the AP poll.
Oregon moved up past LSU to #2 in both polls, edging ahead of LSU after their 49-0 pulling away win over formerly #22 Arizona. Alabama remains #1, and nearly unanimously. The loss dropped the 'Cats, Oregon St.'s next opponent Saturday night in Tucson, out of both polls, though they did still receive some votes. A win over the Beavers could put the 'Cats right back in.
The wins by the state of Oregon teams and the 2 for 1 swap in the poll that resulted left the Pac-12 with only 4 teams in the top 25.
Stanford, idle while preparing for a visit to Seattle to take on Washington Thursday night at Century Link Field, bubbled up from #9 to #8 as a result of Oklahoma's loss to Kansas St.
USC remained ranked #13 after pulling away from California for a 27-9 win in the Trojan's bounce back after the loss at Stanford.
Boise St. is the only other western team ranked, at #24 after a 7-6 win over visiting BYU, the Beavers' Oct. 13 opponent, on Thursday night.
