Beavers Back Into Top 25

Oregon St.'s series win over Stanford last weekend had moved the Beavers back into the BaseballAmerica.com top 25, moving into the #23 spot. The Cardinal's dropping the last 2 games of the weekend, plus an in-week loss at San Jose St., dropped them from #12 down to #17. With the Beavers ranked again, the Pac-12 again has 6 teams ranked.

Conference leading Oregon remains the highest rated Pac-12 team, and the Ducks edged up from #10 to #9 after taking a pair of games at Gonzaga, and then 2 of 3 at previously #11 Arizona. Losing the series to Oregon lowered the Wildcats down to #14, swapping places with UCLA.

The Bruins got a win at Long Beach St., and then took the first 2 games of a weekend series with Big Ten leading Purdue. Only a 10 run 9th inning yesterday prevented the Boilermakers from getting swept, and Purdue still slid from #13 to #15.

Arizona St. inched up from #20 to #19 after sweeping their weekend series against Utah, and San Diego also rose 1 spot, from #19 to #18, after the Toreros swept BYU in Provo, to retain control of the West Coast Conference.

The one other ranked western team, and the one that is highest in the poll, Big West leading Cal-St. Fullerton, seems to have hit something of a glass ceiling, as the Titans remained at #8 for the third week in a row, after beating USC, and then sweeping their weekend series from Pacific.

Florida St. stayed #1 in the poll, after a 3-0 week extended their winning streak to 10 games.
