Oregon St. begins a 5 game road trip, and the weekend's Pac-12 series, at Arizona St. on Thursday. Because of Easter, this week's conference games will begin on Thursday so that the series will all be concluded on Saturday if weather doesn't force a delay, in order to leave Easter Sunday open.
Thursday night's game will be shown on a tape delayed basis by Fox Sports Arizona and ROOT Sports Northwest Friday morning at 9 AM MST and PDT, and therefore, there will be no Beaveronline video stream.
The Beavers enter on a 3 game winning streak, after taking the last 2 of their 3 game series against Washington last weekend, and then followed it up with an 8-2 win over Portland Tuesday night.
The Sun Devils have suffered a 4 game losing streak, having been swept at Oregon Saturday and Sunday, after having lost to Cal-St Fullerton just prior to their trip to Eugene. It was the second year in a row Arizona St. has been swept in the state of Oregon, as the Beavers took all 3 of last year's contests in Corvallis.
Oregon St. coach Pat Casey decided to not send LHP Ben Wetzler (4-0, 3.15 ERA), the usual first starter in series, to the mound, citing short rest, and decided instead to go with RHP Dan Child (3-1, 1.54 ERA) instead, on even less rest.
Arizona St. will counter with RHP Brady Rodgers (4-1, 1.29 ERA).
Child went 8 rainy innings in Oregon St.'s 9-0 win in the second game of last Saturday's doubleheader against Washington to get the win. Child struck out 4, and allowed only 6 hits and 3 walks in the shutout.
Rodgers went the distance in the first game of last Saturday's doubleheader against Oregon, giving up only 4 hits in the complete game. Unfortunately for him and the rest of the Sun Devils, 1 of those hits was Aaron Jones' solo home run in the 6th inning for the only score of the game.
Go Beavers!
