Baseball Poll All Shaken Up

Oregon St. dropped out of the BaseballAmerica.com top 25 poll after getting swept by Arizona St. last weekend, but they were far from the only ones moving around. 21 of the 25 spots are occupied by someone else than held the spot last week, though a pair of Pac-12 teams are among the 4 who held steady.

After being ranked #1 all season, a 1-3 week dropped Florida to #7, allowing Florida St. to move up one spot to become the new #1.

Despite losing 2 of 4 games in the state of Utah, one to Utah Valley St., and also the middle game of their Pac-12 series with Utah, Arizona remained at #4.

Stanford stayed at #6, after defeating St. Marys, and then taking 2 of 3 at Washington.

Arizona St. moved up to #21 with their sweep of formerly #20 Oregon St., one spot behind San Diego, who beat Oregon St. earlier in the year, and took 2 of 3 from visiting Gonzaga, and moved up from #21 to take over the spot the Beavers had occupied.

Some of the biggest movement came as a result of Oregon taking the first 2 of 3 games in their series at UCLA. The Ducks climbed up from #22 to #16, and the Bruins free-fell all the way from #5 to #17.

Cal-St. Fullerton moved up from #14 to #12, after defeating San Diego St., and then sweeping UC-Davis, although they may need another strong weekend at UC-Irvine, having already dropped a game to UCLA that came after the poll voting was completed.

New Mexico St. moved into the last spot in the top 25, the first appearance by a WAC team this season, after beating New Mexico, and then taking 2 of 3 from Nevada, the team Oregon St. had a huge struggle with this week before managing to pull out both wins. The Aggies kept the west at 8 teams in the poll, which was the new high for the season, first attained 2 weeks ago.
