Oregon St. vs. Arizona Saturday Game Thread

#19 Oregon State (15-5, 4-0) vs. #5 Arizona (19-3, 2-2) - 2:05 PM PDT - Goss Stadium at Coleman Field, Corvallis, OR- KEJO 1240 AM & KPOJ 620 AM - Video and Audio Stream on Beaver Nation Online, for a fee

The Beavers look to secure what would be an impressive series win on Saturday, after beating the Wildcats in dramatic walkoff fashion 6-5 on Friday.

Oregon State was winning 3-1 after the first inning, and had a 5-1 lead heading into the 8th. However, Cole Brocker surrendered 2 runs in the 8th, and Tony Bryant, not to be outdone, did the same in the 9th, and Arizona had tied the game. But with 1 out in the bottom of the frame, Ryan Dunn hit a walkoff single, scoring Tyler Smith, who had reached base on an error.

Beaver Starter Ben Wetzler keeps pitching well, as he went 6.2 innings, while giving up 1 run on 4 hits.

The mighty freshmen Dylan Davis and Michael Conforto both had an RBI Friday, and the senior Dunn's walkoff was his 3rd hit of the day, and earned him his 2nd RBI.

6'3" sophomore Konner Wade (3-0, 2.97) will start for the Wildcats on Saturday. His last appearance was in relief against New Mexico St., and it went terribly. He faced 9 batters, walked 4, and hit 2. He surrendered 4 runs in just 1 inning of work.

The Beavers starter will be Dan Child (2-1, 1.65). Child went 8+ innings last Saturday against Cal, allowing 5 hits, and 1 unearned run. He issued 1 walk, and struck out 6.

The Beavers are the only team with a perfect in-conference record, UCLA is 1 game behind OSU, and the Huskies are 1.5 games back, as they play Cal State Bakersfield this weekend. Oregon, Arizona, ASU, and Utah all trail the Beavers by 2 games.

UCLA knocked off WSU yesterday, Oregon did the same to Utah, and ASU beat Cal 5-1. Stanford opens Pac-12 play today against the Trojans.

Go Beavers!
