The Oregon St. men's track and field program comprised of a few of the Beavers' football players took a first and a second yesterday in Eugene at the Oregon Preview meet at Hayward Field, in front of a crowd of over 5,000.
Obum Gwacham, a red-shirt sophomore to be WR, won the men's high jump, clearing 6'11" (2.11 meters) to out-jump Kyley Johnson of the Bowerman Athletic Club.
The 4x100 meter relay team of Malcolm Marable, Markus Wheaton, Brandin Cooks, and Keynan Parker finished second to Oregon. The Beavers posted a time of 41.78 seconds, while the Ducks, who also had football players Dior Mathis and B.J. Kelley running the first 2 legs of the relay, won with a time of 40.68.
It was the first outdoor meet action of the season for the Beavers.
