OSU Men's Track Sees Success At Husky Classic

The fledgling Oregon St. Men's Track and Field team saw some success this past weekend in the Husky Classic Indoor Meet on the University of Washington campus in Seattle.

Three of the Beavers' football players crossed over into the spring sports, with red-shirt freshman Obum Gwacham having the best success. Gwacham finished third in the high jump, clearing 6'11 1/2" (2.12 meters). It was the highest school affiliated finish in the event, as both athletes that cleared a higher bar were track club specialists. Mike Mason, from the Valley Royals Track Club, won with a height of 7'11/2" (2.17 m).

Junior cornerback Keynan Parker and redshirt freshman cornerback Malcolm Marable both competed in the 60 meter dash. Parker won the 8th. heat, with a time of 6.91, which was tied for 5th. overall in the preliminary heats, and advanced to the second (faster) heat of the finals. Marable placed 4th. in the 3rd. heat, with a time of 7.21, which was tied for 31st. in the field of 40.

Parker placed 6th. in the final heat, with a time of 6.96, which was 11th. of 12 finalists overall. Colorado's Joe Morris won with a time of 6.76.
