Oregon St. has received their 12th verbal commitment for the 2013 football recruiting class, after Fred Lauina from Pago Pago (American Samoa) decided to become a Beaver this week.
Lauina is a 6'3", 260 lb. offensive lineman, though he could also switch to the defensive side, depending on whether offensive line coach Mike Cavanaugh or defensive line coach Joe Seumalo wins out in the tug of war. Both impressed Lauina while he was in Corvallis this week.
"I really loved the atmosphere while I was there and have built a great relationship with Coach Cav and Coach Joe," Lauina said. "I am ready to join Noke and help OSU win games in the future."
Noke is freshman Noke Tago, who is also from American Samoa, and hosted Lauina while he was on campus.
Being well out of normal radar range in the south Pacific, Lauina is not rated by either Rivals.com or Scout.com.
