Oregon St. picked up a committment from Skyler Phillips, an offensive guard for the 2013 recruiting class from in-state.
Phillips is 6'3" and 335 lbs., and is from Churchill High in Eugene, OR. He's also posted a 5.3 40 time, not bad for an interior lineman of his size.
Here's his video:
Phillips is a somewhat under the radar prospect, and its hard to imagine how anyone that large could be. Rivals.com has him as a 2 star recruit, but Scout.com hasn't issued a ranking.
ESPN is more optimistic, giving Phillips three stars, and considers him the 8th. best recruit in Oregon, and 80th. best offensive guard in the country. That still fits head coach Mike Riley's pattern of taking under-heralded prospects that show potential.
