Oregon St. has it's 10th. commit for the 2012 season, as Kentridge High tight end Caleb Smith from Renton, WA, has chosen the Beavers.
Smith, a 3 star prospect according to both Scout.com and Rivals.com, stands 6'7", and weighs 240 lbs. Rivals ranks Smith as the #22 tight end prospect nationally, while Scout lists him at #41.
Smith is also on track to graduate in the winter, and plans to enroll at Oregon St. for spring term, and participate in spring ball in 2012.
Smith had received offers from 12 schools, with his home state schools of Washington and Washington St., as well as Boise St., Oregon, UCLA, Colorado, and Purdue among the top ones. Idaho and UNLV, as well as FCS Big Sky powers Eastern Washington and Montana also were after him.
The commit also continues the run of tight end talent from the state of Washington that sent Joe Halahuni, Connor Hamlett, and Lakewood's Dustin Stanton, also committed to the Beavers, to Corvallis.
