Carter Bell won't be back at third base for the Beavers next season. The Oregon St. junior, drafted in the 29th round (874th overall) of the Major League Baseball draft last week by Arizona has signed with the Diamondbacks, and will forego his senior season to play professionally. Bell batted .299 with 22 RBIs for the Beavers this year.
Senior James Nygren's career will also continue, as the Beaver right-handed pitcher, drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 33rd. round (1,003 overall), has also signed. Nygren was 8-3, and had a 3.47 ERA, for Oregon St. this season.
