Another pretty good week for me. I correctly picked six teams' records this week, and was incorrect on the Oregon-Arizona State and California-USC series.
In case you missed our first posts, I'll be predicting every Thursday-Monday Pac-10 game throughout the season, and I'll keep the records of everyone who joins in at the comments section.
So, here's my Week 8 picks.
Washington (Friday-Sunday, @ Oregon)
Prediction : 0-3
I can see Washington taking one of these games, but I have a gut feeling that Oregon finds their game this weekend and sweeps the rival Huskies.
Washington State (Friday-Sunday, UCLA)
Prediction : 1-2
Washington State got a big series opening win last weekend against Stanford, and even though they still lost the series, it was a big win for this struggling Cougar team. I think this weekend's series will be similar, as the Cougars should win one game against the Bruins, but I like UCLA to take the series.
Oregon (Friday-Sunday, Washington)
Prediction : 3-0
Like I said above, the Ducks should definitely win this series. The question is will they sweep the Dawgs? I think they barely do.
Oregon State (Friday-Sunday, Arizona State)
Prediction: 2-1
Similar to last weekend's series, I've flipped back and forth on this one for a while. With Gaviglio on the mound Friday night, I think the Beavers easily take game one. The rest of the series is a toss-up, but I think the Sun Devils win on Saturday and Oregon State takes the rubber match thanks to another dominant performance by Ben Wetzler.
California (Friday-Sunday, @ Arizona)
Prediction: 2-1
The Wildcats are cold and the Golden Bears are hot, which should result in a easy series victory for California.
More predictions after the break
Stanford (Friday-Sunday, @ USC)
Prediction: 2-1
Both teams are pretty hot entering this weekend, but Stanford is definitely more talented. All three games should be close, but I expect Stanford to win the series 2-1.
USC (Friday-Sunday, Stanford)
Prediction: 1-2
Read above!
UCLA (Friday-Sunday, @ Washington State
Prediction: 2-1
Like I said above, these games should be close, but expect the Bruins to get out of Pullman with a series victory.
Arizona (Friday-Sunday, California)
Prediction: 1-2
After winning three games in a row last week, including a 18-0 victory against Oregon State, Arizona has dropped three in a row. A series against a red-hot California team won't help their cause, but Kurt Heyer should help the Wildcats to at least one win on Friday night.
Arizona State (Friday-Sunday, @ Oregon State)
Prediction: 1-2
This should be one of the best series of the weekend nation-wide, and it is equally tough to pick. I think the Beavers win the series though thatnks to good pitching by Sam Gaviglio and Ben Wetzler.
Record (Either a win, loss, or tie, based on correctly predicting that team's record for the weekend): 30-29-9, Goal: 95-45-9
