Baseball Open Thread: OSU @ Arizona (Game 3)

Oregon State and Arizona meet at 12:00 PM west coast time today to conclude the three game series between the Beavers and Wildcats. After today's game, the Beavers are off until Tuesday, when they will face the Portland Pilots at 3:00 PM.

Oregon State comes into today's game with an record of 19-7, 1-1 in the Pac-10. The Beavers have good wins against Connecticut, Oregon, Long Beach State (2), and Arizona. Their bad losses have came against Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Seattle University, and UC Santa Barbara. The Beavers are currently on a one game winning streak after defeating Arizona, 10-4, in yesterday's game. Oregon State is currently ranked 19th in the nation.

The Wildcats come into the game with a record of 20-8, 2-3 in the Pac-10. Their good wins have came against Long Beach State (2), Rice, Arizona State, and Oregon State. Last weekend, Arizona dropped a series to rival Arizona State in Tempe. Arizona is currently ranked 18th in the nation. After the series with the Beavers, the Wildcats are off until Tuesday, when they will again face the rival Sun Devils.

Oregon State's starter for today's game is TBA, but Arizona will send out Tyler Hale (3-1, 2.70). In Oregon State's last Sunday game, James Nygren (3-1, 3.60). In Hale's last start, he went 6.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits.

Last year, Arizona went 34-24. The Wildcats went 1-2 against the Beavers in 2010.

The weather is is expected to be great for the duration of the game. The Weather Channel calls for 80° and partly cloudy at 12:00 PM, with the temperature rising to 83° near the end of the game. For Oregon State's next game, however, the weather doesn't look to be very good. At 3:00 PM on Tuesday, the Weather Channel calls for 49° and showers at Joe Etzel Field.
