Oregon St. Adds CB Depth

Oregon St. has signed another JC transfer this week that will improve depth at cornerback come fall practice. Mishawn Cummings, a 5'11", 190 lb. sophomore to be from Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, CA, visited practice Wednesday, and Coach Mike Riley offered Cummings a scholarship Thursday. Cummings has accepted, and will have three years of eligibility remaining, plus his redshirt, should it be needed.

Cummings led Foothill last fall with four interceptions, and has a 4.3 40 speed.

Cummings graduated from San Jose’s Valley Christian High in 2009, but a broken leg his senior season (2008) knocked him off the recruiting radar of Division I colleges. As a result., Cummings greyshirted at City College of San Francisco, missing the 2009 season, before transferring to Foothill for last year.

Cummings will join the Beavers for fall camp, and enroll in fall term, after finishing some schoolwork at Foothill.

Oregon St. has only one senior, Brandon Hardin, at corner back, but Jordan Poyer, Brian Watkins, and Keynan Parker are all juniors, so down the line, there will be an opportunity for a player with Cummings' speed.
