Beavers Add A Guard

Oregon St. mens basketball coach Craig Robinson has announced the signing of Challe Barton, a 6'3" combination point/shooting guard who has signed a National Letter of Intent with the Beavers.

"We are very excited about the addition of Challe Barton to our program," Robinson said. "He is athletic and has a very good outside shot and is a good ball handler."

Barton played this year for Sanda Basketball Academy in Sweden, where he led the team to two national Final Fours in three years. In 2009, Barton was the youngest player in the tournament at the age of 16. He also played in the FIBA U18 Championships in 2010 for the Sweden U18 team.

"He has played at his high school and also on the national team so he has experience against some of the best competition in Europe," Robinson added. "He will bolster our backcourt significantly."

Barton comes from a background of basketball at a pretty good level, and Robinson isn't looking at red-shirting him.

"His dad played and coached in Europe for many years," Robinson said. "He comes from a great basketball pedigree. He'll be competing for playing time, and I expect to get him on the court this season."
