Oregon State (10-19, 5-13) vs Stanford (15-15, 7-11) - 6:10 PM PST - Staples Center in Los Angeles - FSN - Radio on KEJO 1240/KPAM 860
No matter how awful the season has been, it's impossible not to be excited when March Madness comes around. And tonight, the Pac-10's own version of the madness begins with the eight seed Stanford Cardinal taking on nine seed Oregon State in the 1st Round.
Last time Oregon State took the court, the Beavers only played six players due to mass curfew violations after the previous game against Arizona. The result was Arizona State getting a 80-66 victory in which the Sun Devils shot the lights out of Wells Fargo Arena, netting 17 three pointers in the process.
Roberto Nelson led the Beavers with 34 points, and Omari Johnson followed him with 17 points.
While the Beavers were flying home from Phoenix, Stanford was battling with rival California in their last regular season game. Despite 19 points from junior Jeremy Green, the Cardinal were blown out, 74-55, against host California. But besides for Green, the rest of the Cardinal roster was ice cold. Gabriel Harris and Jack Trotter were the next highest scorers, adding 7 points a piece off the bench. The Cardinal shot less than 40% overall from the field.
The Beavers and Cardinal met just 13 days ago on February 24th in Gill Coliseum, where the Beavers opened Senior Week in style with a 87-80 victory.
Jared Cunningham led the Beavers with 21 points, followed by Calvin Haynes, who added 14 points and two assists. Devon Collier led the Beavers on the glass, pulling down nine rebounds. Three other Beavers were in double digits scoring wise, as Roberto Nelson had 12 and Ahmad Starks and Joe Burton added 11 points a piece.
Jeremy Green led everyone in points that night with 24 points. Aaron Bright followed Green with 15 points off the bench.
