Oregon State and Hartford meet at 6:20 PM west coast time tonight in Corvallis to begin a four game series between the Beavers and Hawks. The series begins a nine game homestand in which the Beavers will also face Oregon, New Mexico State (2), and VMI (2).
Oregon State comes into this game with an overall record of 5-3. The Beavers opened up the season in Fresno, where they went 2-2. After the FSU Tournament, the team traveled to Texas, where they went 3-1.
These will be Hartford's first games of the season.
The Hawks will send right hander Anthony Mannuccia (0-0, 0.00 ERA) to the mound, while the Beavers starter is TBA. Sam Gaviglio has started the previous two Friday games for the Beavers, but after throwing 115 pitches last Friday, Pat Casey might be saving him for Tuesday's meeting with Oregon.
Mannuccia went 1-5 with and 8.62 ERA last season. Anthony appeared pitched 48 innings in 14 games (7 starts). He also had 22 walks and 30 strikeouts. Mannuccia will be a Sophomore this season.
Last year, Hartford went 11-37.
Tonight will be Oregon State's home opener, and they should be familiar with the weather expected. The Weather Channel calls for 49° and clouds at 5:30 PM, but it also calls for thunderstorms and rain throughout the later innings.
Tomorrow, the Beavers and Hawks will continue their series with a doubleheader beginning at 12:05 PM. The second game is scheduled to begin at 3:35 PM.
Go Beavers!
