The NCAA Tournament continues this morning across the nation, with the last half of the bracket playing their first round games.
This year, I will be picking every NCAA Tournament game. If you want to join me in the comments section, I'll keep everyone's records as well. Enjoy!
Friday, March 18th (All Times Pacific)
Oakland vs Texas, 9:15 AM, CBS
We might be looking at an upset to start Day 2, but I think the Longhorns are just too talented to lose this. The Grizzlies will definitely keep it close though and should be in it going down the stretch. Prediction: Texas
Tennessee vs Michigan, 9:40 AM, Tru-TV
Another great game to start Day 2. I have been on the Michigan bandwagon all year, and thought I would at least advance them to the 2nd Round, but that changed when I saw they were playing the Volunteers. I like Tennessee a lot this year, and I think they win a tight one against the Wolverines. Prediction: Tennessee
More picks after the break
Akron vs Notre Dame, 10:40 AM, TBS
No doubt about this one. I've got the Irish going all the way to the Championship, beginning today with an easy win over the Zips. Prediction: Notre Dame
Villanova vs George Mason, 11:10 AM, TNT
This one confuses me. The Wildcats had a great start to their season, but they have been ice cold since the beginning of February. The Patriots on the other hand, have been hot as of late, but against a pretty weak schedule. I guess I'll go with the Pats. Prediction: George Mason
Memphis vs Arizona, 11:45 AM, CBS
I'm super, super tempted to call upset alert on this one, but I can't. I think the Wildcats will be able to hold off Memphis, but just barely. The funny thing is, if Arizona can get past this one, I like them to knock off Texas on Sunday. Prediction: Arizona
Hampton vs Duke, 12:10 PM, Tru-TV
Duke might win this one by 40. Prediction: Duke
Florida State vs Texas A&M, 1:10 PM, TBS
Another tough 10-7 matchup to pick. I saw the Aggies play twice this season and I wasn't impressed, so I'm going with FSU by the slimmest of margins. Prediction: Florida State
UT-San Antonio vs Ohio State, 1:40 PM, TNT
The Buckeyes look to begin their march to Houston against the Roadrunners, who are here after their "First Four" win against Alabama State on Wednesday. Prediction: Ohio State
Boston U vs Kansas, 3:50 PM, TBS
Should be a easy one for the top seeded Jayhawks. Prediction: Kansas
Long Island vs North Carolina, 4:15 PM, CBS
This is the first time ever I haven't heard of a school playing in the NCAA Tournament. Tar Heels roll. Prediction: North Carolina
St. Peter's vs Purdue, 4:20 PM, TNT
Alright, thi is the second school I've never heard of. Surprisingly, Purdue fans aren't super confident going into the tourney, but I like them to roll in this one. Prediction: Purdue
Marquette vs Xavier, 4:25 PM, Tru-TV
Finally, something to save us from blowout after blowout. I am really confident in the Musketeers though, mostly because of Junior guard Tu Holloway. Prediction: Xavier
Illinois vs UNLV, 6:20 PM, TBS
Don't know why, but I am super confident in the Runnin Rebels. They have already defeated Wisconsin and Kansas State this season, and they lost by a total of 14 points in three meetings with San Diego State. Prediction: UNLV
Georgia vs Washington, 6:45 PM, CBS
The Huskies are hot right now and I expect them to roll over the Bulldogs fairly easily. I wouldn't put an upset of North Carolina past them either on Sunday. Prediction: Washington
Virginia Commonwealth vs Georgetown, 6:50 PM, TNT
Upset! I like the Rams a lot in this one. Most people said that they didn't deserve to be in the field this year, but they proved everyone wrong after defeating USC in a "First Four" game on Wednesday. On the other hand, the Hoyas have lost four in a row and come in ice cold. Prediction: Virginia Commonwealth
Indiana State vs Syracuse, 6:55 PM, Tru-TV
An exciting day ends with somewhat of a yawner, but that's alright. The Orange will roll. Prediction: Syracuse
Record: 14-6, Prediction: 37-30
