Oregon St. Will Have A Staff Change

Oregon St. running backs coach Reggie Davis, whose tenure coincided with Jacquizz Rodgers' stay in Corvallis, has resigned, to be come tight ends coach for Jim Harbaugh with the San Francisdo 49ers.

Harbaugh and Davis are old friends, having played together with the San Diego Chargers for two seasons under Mike Riley. Davis also coached tight ends for Harbaugh at the University of San Diego.

"It wasn't an easy decision," Davis said. "Coach Riley is great to work for. But the timing was perfect, and we felt it was a good move for us. Jim is a coach we know, and I know how to work with him. Plus, it's one of the greatest organizations in the league. There's a lot of talent here, and we can win a lot of games."

Riley has not announced any plans or timetable yet for replacing Davis, who came to Oregon St. after a stint as running back coach at UNLV.

With the need to develop a replacement strategy for 'Quizz, who has departed early for the NFL, the move(s) Riley makes in response to Davis' leaving on top of 'Quizz's departure will be one of the more significant decisions in his career.
