Oregon St. sophomore center Chris Brown has left the basketball team, and will transfer elsewhere. Updated 01/05/2012: Brown has decided to transfer to Cleveland St., a member of the Horizon League.
Brown, a 6'11" 250 lb. post from Sugarland, TX, played at Oak Hill Academy, and then at Ocean Academy in New Jersey, another college scholarship exposure program that also sent Eric Moreland to Oregon St.
Brown played in 15 games in the 2010-11 season, but did not get into even the blow-out games this season. After completing fall term, the run of mostly mediocre mid-majors the Beavers faced after finals week seemed like the best chance for Brown to break into the rotation. But after never getting off the bench even in any of the 5 games in their last 6 that Oregon St. won by 20 or more points, Brown decided to transfer.
"Chris Brown, with our best wishes, has decided to transfer from Oregon State University," head coach Craig Robinson said. "We have enjoyed having Chris as a part of our team over the past year and a half. Our team and staff wish Chris well in his new endeavors."
Oregon St. still has 15 players on the roster, and 13 have played.
