The Bowl Season continues tonight with Nevada and Boston College in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl in San Francisco, California. Below is a quick preview of the game with my pick at the end. Along with my pick, I will post the favorite and flip a coin for the game. Whichever method has the most points at the end of Bowl Season, I will use for next year's games.
Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl from AT&T Park in San Francisco, #15 Nevada (12-1, 7-1 in the WAC) vs. Boston College (7-5, 4-4 in the ACC), 6:00 PM on ESPN
Why You Should Watch: To see the 15th ranked Wolfpack and their high-octane offense, led by Quarterback Colin Kaepernick and Running Back Vai Taua. Nevada is a deflected pass in Hawaii away from being a BCS buster. It's also a chance to check in on Eagles' linebacker Mark Herzlich, who came back this year after beating cancer.
This is normally a Pac-10 tie-in bowl, but the shortage of bowl eligible teams opened up the opportunity for Nevada instead. Of course, the Wolfpack's 52-31 win over Cal, who finished 5-7, and would have otherwise been the home-town pick to play in the San Francisco Giants' home park. Where the Bears will play their home games, including a Nov. 12 visit by Oregon St., next year, while their stadium is being renovated.
Breakdown: So far I'm 1-0 on my big upset picks, with the first being Tulsa over Hawaii. My next one comes tonight, as I've got the Eagles upsetting Nevada. Do I have a good reason for it, nope? But Boston College has won five in a row. Of course, you could say the same thing about Nevada.
I just have a gut feeling that BC pulls this one out, and I'm putting all of two confidence points on it.
