Oregon St. coach Craig Robinson has started the 2012 basketball recruiting class off with an offer, and verbal commitment, from an instate post player.
Maika Ostling, a 6'10" 230 lb. junior center, plays for the Dayton Pirates, the #2 ranked team in Oregon class 3A.
Ostling is ranked #125 in the Rivals Top 150, chose to commit early because, "you only go to one college so you shouldn't waste their time".
Ostling selected Oregon St. over Portland, Washington State, Washington, San Fansisco, Colorado, Utah, Montana, Portland State, Gonzaga, USC and Cal Poly. Oregon St. (and the University of Portland) showed interest in Ostling early, who said "I want to be part of building something special with Coach Robinson at OSU."
