Oregon State Football News and Notes: Riley Assesses Performance, and More

The team has the day off today before getting back to the practice field tomorrow. The players and coaches had a chance to watch film of the TCU game yesterday, and as you can imagine, know they have work to do.

Take this tweet from backup tailback Jordan Jenkins, for example:

Watched, studied, learned, humbled, time reanalyze the situation and make it better.yesterday via web

Now, on to the links:

Mike Riley talked to the media last night in a teleconference: Paul BukerCliff Kirkpatrick, and Bob Clark all have their reports on the same call. The jist: Riley wasn't happy with the time of possession numbers and can't remember the last time the Beavers only ran 51 plays (TCU ran 81). He doesn't think the roof was as big of a factor as everyone at TCU seemed to think. There were no injuries, no lineup changes are expected. On the botched snap: "We didn't go to the line of scrimmage with confidence."

A few more notes on TCU: I sort of put this storyline into the "I don't care" category before the game, but by beating the Beavers, Andy Dalton is now ahead of Sammy Baugh as TCU's winningest quarterback in school history. Despite etching his name atop this list, Dalton has some work to do himself-- he's thrown five interceptions in his last two games alone. Last season, he only threw eight all year. Dalton: "This is what I was doing when I was a freshman. ... What am I doing? I'm a fifth-year senior."

Also, wasn't expecting post-game trash talk to come from a pulpit

Big weekend for former Beavers in the NFL, as a litany of roster cuts were made. Notably: Slade Norris (Raiders), Sean Canfield (Saints), and Keaton Kristick (49ers) are now on practice squads. Keith Ellison stayed on the Bills' 53-man roster, and Sabby Piscitelli remains with the Bucs. Al Afalava was released in Chicago, still waiting to see where he goes next. T.J. Houshmandzadeh was released by Seattle, put picked up by the Ravens this morning. I hope I'm not missing anyone, but here is a list of former Beavers who are on 53-man rosters:

Derek Anderson (Cardinals), T.J. Houshmandzadeh (Ravens), Dwan Edwards (Billis), Keith Ellison (Bills), Andy Levitre (Bills), Matt Moore (Panthers), Chad Ochocinco (Bengals), Victor Butler (Cowboys), Nick Barnett (Packers), Kyle DeVan (Colts), Adam Koets (Giants), Keenan Lewis (Steelers), Steven Jackson (Rams), Brandon Hughes (San Diego), Sabby Piscitelli (Bucs), Sammie Stroughter (Bucs).

Post any other links of interest in the thread below. Happy Monday!
