Gainesville Regional // Game 2
Oregon State at Florida // 4:00 PM PT // TV on Sun Sports, Radio on KPAM 860
Oregon State continues their trek through the Gainesville Regional today with a game against Florida. The Gators are the #3 National Seed and are a very impressive 43-15 on the season.
Oregon State will be led on the mound by sophomore Sam Gaviglio (3-3, 4.65), who will be looking to do what he did a year ago in regional play when he shut down Texas A&M in Fort Worth. Florida lefty Alex Panteliodis (9-2, 3.38) will be on the mound for Florida.
The Beavers won't be playing in the heat of the day today, however the heat and humidity didn't to seem to have an enormous effect on yesterday's game. The temperature is expected to be at 86 degrees at gametime and will drop into the seventies as the game progresses.
Obviously, the team that wins this game will be in the driver's seat of the regional. The loser will have to defeat Florida Atlantic tomorrow before needing to beat the winner twice. That's the route the Beavers took in Charlottesville in 2007 when they lost to Virginia then beat them twice, but the Beavers know that winning today gives them the best chance of advancing into the Super Regionals.
