Connor's 2010 NCAA College World Series Predictions

New, 2 comments

After 4 Days of thrilling and heartbreaking baseball, the Field has been cut from 16 Teams to 8. In the Super Regionals, I correctly picked 5 out of the 8 Series correct. The only other person who was brave enough to take me on, ArbyOSU, picked 4 out of the 8 correctly. For some good competition, post your Picks for the CWS in the Comments Section.

Read on for my Picks after the break

Since the College World Series Bracket takes an Albert Einstein to figure out, I'll just pick the winners of Bracket 1 and Bracket 2, and then break down the Champonship Series. If you want to try and decipher the CWS, a link to the bracket is below.

Bracket 1:

TCU
Florida State
Florida
UCLA

Two major title contenders are in this bracket, the Gators and Bruins. I see these teams playing three times, with the Gators eventually winning out. Florida advances to Championship Series

Bracket 2:

Oklahoma
South Carolina
Arizona State
Clemson

I don't see anyone giving the Sun Devils trouble in this Bracket. ASU should advance after just three games. Arizona State advances to Championship Series

CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

GAME 1

The Sun Devil Pitching Staff is more rested coming in, and that will prove big as the game wares on. ASU jumps out to an early 3-0 lead, but Florida's big bats cut it to 3-2 in the 5th. ASU gets some insurance in the Bottom of the 8th with a Solo Homer to make the lead 4-2, and Jordan Swaggerty closes it out in the 9th to give the Sun Devils a 1-0 advantage.

Game 2

This time it's the Gators who jump out to an early lead, getting a pair of runs in the 1st and two more in the 2nd to give UF a 4-0 advantage. ASU slowly chips back though, and by the 9th Inning the Gators lead is only 5-4. But after the UF Closer loads the bases, the Gators get a Double Play ball to end the game and keep their season alive.

Game 3

After a good five days of rest, both clubs send their aces to the mound. After all, they have the whole off-season to rest. The Pitchers dominate early, but Florida gets a Solo Homer in the 5th to give UF a 1-0 lead. But fast forward to the Bottom of the 6th, where the dominating Florida Pitcher suddenly gives up a Bases Loaded Double to give ASU a 3-1 lead.

The score would remain that until the Top of the 9th, where the Gators would sneak one more run across the plate to make the score 3-2. But Ice Cold Jordan Swaggerty gets the Sun Devils out of it, subsequently giving ASU their first Championship since 1981. Arizona State Wins College World Series

Well, there you have it. Feel free to share any of your picks in the Comments Section.
