Baseball Open Thread: Oregon State vs. Arizona, Game 2

Oregon State vs. Arizona // Game 2 // 2pm // TV on FSN

The goal heading into any weekend is to win the series, and that's what the Beavers will be trying to do today after winning game one against Arizona last night, 6-3.

More importantly, perhaps, a win today would be the Beavers' tenth win in the last fourteen games-- showing the committee that this team is for real after losing 11 of 12 earlier in the season.

The Beavers now sit at 30-21 on the year and 11-14 in Pac-10 play. Due to four rainouts that haven't been rescheduled, the Beavers haven't played as many games as other teams they'll be compared with, but the OSU resume is still strong.

The Beavers started out 16-3 in non-confernce, but that stretch was undermined once the Beavers began struggling in Pac-10 play. Heading into the final weekend, the coaching staff felt that two wins were needed to make the Beavers a lock to qualify for the NCAA Regionals, and they can accomplish that today.

The Beavers are now without Stefen Romero due to injury, and it will be interesting to see if Adalberto Santos continues to carry the offensive load for the Beavers. He had 2 home runs and 4 RBI's in Friday's game, but the Beavers will continue to need run production, especially against a potent offensive team like Arizona. Will Santos, who now has a 12-game hitting streak, get help? Or will he be that bat that Oregon State rides into the postseason?

First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., and today's game will be televised on FSN Northwest.
