Oregon St. picked up a solid 9-2 win over the University of Portland Tuesday night at Goss Stadium in Corvallis.
Ryan Gorton allowed just one unearned run in the first inning, and struck out four, while walking three and allowing five hits in seven plus innings, to improve his record to 3-0, and keep his ERA at 0.00.
Rob Folsom went 4 for 5 for the Beavers, including two doubles, and drove in three runs, while Adalberto Santos tripled in the first and fourth inning, and reached base five of six trips to the plate.
The Pilots burned through eight pitchers, giving up 12 hits to the Beavers, six for extra bases.
Portland scored the first and last run of the game, but Oregon St. scored in six of their eight at bats, including a two run fourth inning to open up a 4-1 lead, and some breathing room, and a three run eighth inning to put the game out of reach. Folsom's two RBI double capped the eighth inning outburst.
The seventeenth ranked Beavers host third ranked UCLA on Friday night to start the weekend's three-game series at Goss Stadium. First pitch Friday night is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. PT, with Saturday a 2 PM start, and the Sunday finale at noon.
