Well after a frustrating, but a hard fought, series against UCLA last week the Beavs need to regroup and refocus this week against a struggling Stanford team (15-13, 4-5). The Cardinal are 3 and 6 in the month of April so far, but are coming off a mid-week win over Santa Clara 14 to 0.
Overall my feeling is this is a very important series to establish some of that swagger the Beavs had going earlier in the season, and OSU needs to win a strong two games at the least and I would contend a sweep this weekend is needed. Usually I'm about the series win and not so fixated on the sweep, but I think the Beavs are still in the conference title hunt and they need these three games to stay right in the thick of it.
Even though Stanford is struggling this will not an easy series, for their program is still a strong one (remember what happened against another struggling program with Long Beach State) and this is a conference foe. OSU has established itself as a force and teams do play up to us now because of our tradition (again think Long Beach State). So, please no overlooking this series Beavs!
First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 tonight with OSU starting our star RHP Greg Peavey (3-0, 1.91) and Stanford will be starting LHP Brett Mooneyham (1-4, 6.03). Weather looks to be great so far today and looks to be a great evening for some baseball in Corvallis!

Go Beavs!
