OSU To Open 2011 & 2012 Against BYU

Oregon St. will open the 2011 and 2012 football seasons against Brigham  Young University. The Cougars will visit Corvallis on Sept. 3, 2011, and the Beavers will visit Provo on Sept. 1, 2012.

BYU defeated OSU 44-20 in the 2009 Las Vegas Bowl.

The home game in 2011 is the first non-conference home game that year, and leaves one non-conference game to be scheduled, on one of two open dates, remaining. The 2012 trip will be the only non-conference road trip that year.

"I have great admiration for the BYU program and what Coach (Bronco) Mendenhall and the Cougars have accomplished," head coach Mike Riley said.  "I think both teams enjoyed being around each other at the Vegas Bowl last December, and I know our team will look forward to these games in the future."

The games will be the tenth and eleventh meetings between the teams, assuming another bowl date doesn't arise in the meantime. Oregon St. leads the series 5-4.
