Game 26 Open Thread: Oregon State vs. Stanford

Oregon State vs. Stanford  /  12:00, Gill Coliseum  /  TV on FSN

Winners of four of the last six, the Beavers are looking to continue to forge up the Pac-10 standings today, as the Stanford Cardinal are in town for the teams' second matchup of the year. Last year, the Beavers and Cardinal got to know each other well, playing twice during the regular season, once in the Pac-10 Tournament, then again in the CBI Bracket. Oregon State finished last year's season with the upper hand, and are looking to conclude the 2010 series with Stanford in the same way. The scouting report on the Cardinal:

Stanford, led by second-year head coach Johnny Dawkins, enters the weekend with a mark of 12-14 overall, 6-8 in league play, after the Cardinal picked up their first road win of the season with a 72-65 win at Oregon on Thursday. Stanford is led by Landry Fields, who leads the team and the league at 22.4 points per contest. Jeremy Green ranks second on the squad and fifth in the league at 17.6 points per game.

Stanford enters the contest averaging 70.1 points per game while allowing 70.5 points per contest. The Cardinal are currently hitting 43.3 percent of their shots from the field while opponents are hitting at a 45.4 percent clip. Oregon State leads the all-time series, 69-60; however, Stanford picked up a 59-35 victory over the Beavers earlier this season.

I'm heading down to Gill for the game, hopefully we'll have a great crowd for this one. After the win over Cal, the Beavers are in prime position to at least earn a first round bye in the Pac-10 conference, something that hasn't happened in awhile.
