The Pac-10 has announced the 2010 All- Conference teams, and Oregon St. defensive tackle Steven Paea is the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year. Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck was named the Offensive Player of the Year, and Oregon coach Chip Kelly the Coach of the Year. USC WR Robert Woods was named the Offensive Freshman of the Year, and Arizona St. Defensive End Junior Onyeali the Defensive Freshman of the Year.
Paea, a senior from Los Altos, Calif., anchored the Beaver defense that ranked fourth in the Pac-10, and 24th. nationally, in sacks with 2.5 per game. Paea recorded 129 tackles during his career, including 29.5 tackles for loss, and 14 sacks, and also holds the school record, with nine forced fumbles.
Paea will head to Arizona after finals this week, to get a jump on training for the Senior Bowl, which he will play in next month, and the NFL pre-draft combine to be held in February.
Paea is joined on the first team by junior running back Jacquizz Rodgers, and senior center Alex Linnenkohl was named to the second team. Rodgers becomes the first Oregon St. player ever to be named to the first team three times.
Oregon St. players that received Honorable Mention include senior CB James Dockery, senior DL Gabe Miller, senior LB Keith Pankey, sophomore Jordan Poyer as a Kick Returner, junior OL Mike Remmers, senior LB Dwight Roberson, and sophomore Devin Unga for Special Teams play.
