Pac-10 Hoops Preview: January 2

Here is a quick preview for each Pac-10 Game tomorrow. Below is also the schedule and my predictions. Go Beavs!

January 2nd Pac-10 Hoops Schedule

Matchup  - Time (Pacific)  - Network

Arizona @ UCLA - 10:00 AM - CBS
Oregon @ Washington - 2:00 PM - FSN NW
Oregon State @ Washington State - 4:00 PM  - FSN NW
Stanford @ California - 4:00 PM  -  No TV
Arizona State @ USC - 7:30 PM -  No TV

Arizona @ UCLA

After falling to USC on New Year's Eve, the Wildcats come limping into Pauley Pavilion. Derrick Williams led the Wildcats with 15 points, and they will need another strong performance from him if they are going to pull the upset.

On the other side, the Bruins come into the game on a high note after upseting Arizona State on Thursday. Nikola Dragovic led the Bruins with 23 points.

Prediction: UCLA-74, Arizona-68

Oregon @ Washington

The Ducks come into Seattle with a Pac-10 record of 1-0 after upseting Washington State on Thursday. Malcolm Armstead hit the game-winning shot in Double Overtime to knock off the Cougars. Tajuan Porter recorded 31 points in the victory. If he has another performance like that, don't be surprised if the Ducks lead the Pac-10 at the end of the day.

The 17th Ranked Huskies enter the game after defeating a pesky Beaver squad, 76-70. Washington looked great at times, but also looked vulnerable against the 1-3-1 defense. Forward Quincy Pondexter led the Dawgs with 20 points.

Prediction: Washington-84, Oregon-82

Rest of the preview after the break

Oregon State @ Washington State

Despite the loss, I was happy with the Beavers effort against the Huskies. For the most part, we played at the tempo we wanted, and our Defense caused 17 Turnovers. Roeland Schaftenaar led Oregon State with 16 points.

The Cougars come into this game unhappy after their last game. They felt that their shouldn't of been a Technical Foul called at the end of the 1st Overtime, therfore giving the Cougars the win. I thought Washington State still played very well though, especially Klay Thompson leading the way with 33 points.

Prediction: Oregon State-67, Washington State-65

Stanford @ California

The Cardinal enter this game with a record of 6-6. Stanford got a good win against Virginia, but in their only tough game so far they fell to Kentucky. Look for Stanford to get Landry Fields the ball.

The Golden Bears enter their Pac-10 opener with an 8-4 record. They've stepped up and played good teams (Syracuse, Ohio State, Kansas) but got blown out in all but one of them. I expect the Golden Bears to challenge Washington for the conference title.

Prediction: California-69, Stanford-65

Arizona State @ USC

The Sun Devils enter the game with a Pac-10 record of 0-1 after getting upset at UCLA. Rihards Kuksiks led ASU with 15 points.

USC enters the Saturday night matchup after defeating the Wildcats on Thursday. Marcus Johnson and Dwight Lewis led the Trojans with 14 points each.

Prediction: Arizona State-63, USC-55

So there you have it. Happy New Year and Go Beavs!
