Connor's thoughts on the Washington State Game

The Beavers defeated the Washington State 42-10 on a cold, sunny day in Pullman. Here are my thoughts on the game.

Quarterback

Sean Canfield had another good game this weekend, going 22 for 29 with one interception, two touchdowns, and 231 yards.

Ryan Katz also saw some playing time for the third time this year, going 4 for 7 with 53 yards. James Rodgers also attempted a pass out of the Wild Flying Beaver Formation. The ball was wobbly and incomplete, but it does give Duck Defensive Coordinator Nick Allitoi something to think about in the coming days.

Overall, another great day for the QB's. We got to see a glimpse of the future in Ryan Katz, and we saw another impressive game for Sean Canfield.

Running Backs

Jacquizz Rodgers had another stellar performance, this week rushing for 165 yards on 24 carries for two touchdowns. The most impressive stat of the day for Quizz was averaging 6.9 yards a carry. That allowed the Beavers to establish the running game and open the offense up for Quarterback Sean Canfield. Backup Jovan Stevenson also got into the game for the Beavers. He rushed for 61 yards and one touchdown on 6 carries.

Recievers

The recieving corps had another great game, lead by James Rodgers with 6 catches for 33 yards. Damola "Microwave" Adeniji had another great game as well, with 5 catches for 89 yards and one touchdown. Joe Halahuni continued to shine with 5 catches for 44 yards and one touchdown.

Running Back Jacquizz Rodgers also came out of the backfield to record 5 grabs for 39 yards.

O-Line

I thought the Offensive Line had a very solid game. It sounded like they opened up some good holes for our Running Backs and they only gave up one sack. They will be very important if the Beavers want to get a win in Eugene.

Defense

Besides for one bad series, I thought the Beaver Defense had a very solid game. They forced one fumble from Kevin Lopina, and only gave up 10 points. The only touchdown was off of a penalty-filled drive for the Cougars, with four Oregon State penalties on that series.

Overall, like I said above, a very solid game for the Beaver D. They've got one final test in the Regular Season against Jeremiah Masoli and company coming up on December 3rd.

Special Teams

Despite zero Field Goals by Justin Kahut, the Beavers Special Teams unit had a very solid day. Kahut knocked in six Extra Points, and every kickoff was pretty good except for his first one. There weren't any special returns on Saturday, but I thought James and Taylor did a good job anyway.

Washington State

The Cougars had another rough showing in Pullman on Saturday. If there was a bright spot it could be found in Quarterback Kevin Lopina, going 15 for 32 and throwing for 133 yards. I thought the game showed that the Cougars might be able to stay with the Huskies in the Apple Cup next Saturday.

The Crowd

Just to prove how far the Cougar football team has fallen, you just have to look at yesterday's attendance number. The figure was 16,165, and according to The VD Special's friend, there were more Beaver fans then Cougar fans. Proving once again, that the Beaver fans travel very well. On a side note, I'm incredibly impressed with these three guys: http://www.buildingthedam.com/photos/beavers-42-cougars-20-beavers-take.

Final Thoughts

I thought the Beavers played 3.5 great quarters of Football on Saturday. The other half was filled with penalties and slopiness, so if we fix that we should be good.

With both the Beavers and Ducks winning on Saturday, it sets up a monumental Civil War game. Winner goes to the Rose Bowl and all that. It's going to be a huge game and I know everyone can't wait for it, but we should use the bye week to get healthy and get pumped up.

Today's Poll

Will you be attending the War for the Roses on December 3rd.
