OSU Women Dealt First Loss in Seven Games in Conference Opener

The Lady Beavers took a conference-best 9-1 record into Pauley Pavilion on Friday night, but came out with their first loss since November 29, when LaVonda Wagner's team lost to then- No. 2 North Carolina. The Bruins defeated Oregon State 60-53, thanks to a second half surge. UCLA only led by one point at halftime.

Sophomore 6'4" center Alex Mitchell scored a season-high 24 points, and senior guard Britney Davis added 14, but Oregon State couldn't hang on to beat the Bruins. UCLA was picked to finish 5th in the conference in both the Coaches and Media preseason polls. Oregon State was picked to finish eighth.

The Beavers were out-rebounded 35-32 by the Bruins. It was the second time this season the Beavers were out-rebounded by their opponents, and was also their second loss.

The Beavers fall to 10-2 with the defeat, and will play USC on Sunday. The Lady Trojans defeated Oregon today by the score of 66-56.
