Happy Pac-10 Media Day.

They'll be a lot going on today regarding football, which is just great for me because I'll be out of town until late tonight. So expect some sort of wrap-up post then. And then, after today, it's a downhill sprint for August 28.

Even though today is primarily dedicated to football, we do have a lot of catching up to do with the baseball team.

First of all, the Beavers released their 2009 schedule yesterday. Take a look at it, and be prepared to discuss it in the next few days. We'll get to know the Ducks very well as we have five games scheduled against them. The Pape Grand Slam will also return to PGE Park. Missouri State will be the opponent for that series.

This blog post by Cliff Kirkpatrick gives us several things to talk about:

  • David Wong's departure has to do with the fact that he'd rather watch his son Joey play from the stands this season, rather from inside the dugout. Makes sense, as Joey will likely go pro after this season.
  • Also, Garret Nash may be leaving this season for a Mormon mission, but it hasn't been confirmed yet.
As always, keep your eyes on Cliff's blog for the latest details on the baseball team.

Since I won't be around to cover Pac-10 Media Day live, I reccommend you head over to Ted Miller's ESPN.com blog for details. He plans to update his site after each coach. The Beavers are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Head coach Mike Riley and CB Brandon Hughes will do the speaking.

GO BEAVERS!
